Walter graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in communications. Walter went from the Univ. of Minnesota to the NBA to become the first-ever NBA rookie-free agent to start on opening night and went on to have a 8 year professional basketball career. Walter spoke to the FFA at the 85th National FFA Convention in Session 4.

Walter Bond talks about how, in order to sell a product or service properly, you need to be like-able. He also talks about College basketball coaches being the best salesmen by selling hopes and dreams instead of a tangible product. How many times have you heard a friend, family member or loved one spell out the reasons they haven't achieved their dreams? Odds are, their explanation featured the word "but." When you think of your own dreams and aspirations, does an inner voice whisper, "I wanted to, but..."? Are you moving closer to your dreams or are "buts" holding you back?
